Exit Interview by Amrita Mukherjee - Book Review

Exit Interview by Amrita Mukherjee looks pretty good from its cover. It grabbed my attention instantly, I loved it the initial phase as it started to unfold the world of the protagonist, which was damn interesting, in a quick session. I was totally hooked into the story. The basic concept of the book was about the hardship that a woman has to face in her working place.

The disappointing part of the book is its second part. It’s very slow and moreover turns out to be very philosophical, which was totally unexpected after the pacy first half of the book. Although in the end, the book concludes at a very good point.

If the book would have been a little short of length or the second half would have been written tightly, this story could have done wonders. Although I loved the writing of the author.

I’ll give this one 3.5/5 stars. Deserves to be read.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

When the rebellious Rasha Roy leaves the comfort of her home to pursue a career in journalism, little does she know of the challenges that lie in her path. But she quickly discovers that life isn't a bed of roses for young rookies - especially one with a mind of her own - despite her exceptional acumen for sniffing out stories. As she moves from one job to another - first in India and then in Dubai - trying to make herself heard, she realizes that the companies' exit interviews are all a sham. Those three short lines on the interview form are not enough to sum up her struggles. She cannot write about the sexual harassment she has faced at the workplace, the promotions she has missed because of nepotism and the trouble she has landed in for a shocking exposé.
But a chance encounter with a young woman at a police station in Cairo leads Rasha to stumble on to the biggest story of her life. Will this be the big break that she has been looking for? Or will this story too, like so many of her others, be sent to an early grave? Exit Interview is the captivating story of an ambitious young woman trying to find her place in an unforgiving world.

The Bhairav Putras by Suhail Mathur - book review

Very few time you come across a book that have the ability to stay with you forever. One of this kind of book is The Bhairav Putras by Suhail Mathur. This book takes you to the time of revolution when Indian decided to root off the Britishers from our mother land. The plot of the book is set in the year 1936 on the lands of village called Circa.

This book talks about the belief of Indians, the brutal behavior of Britishers against Indians, the planning and plotting of revolutionists, the bloodshed and the spirit to stand against the evil. There was not a single moment when your interest would lose off from the gripping storyline. The writing style of the author is like the flow of river; smooth and steady. The characterization is brilliantly done and you can actually feel the character around you while reading the book.

I would rate this book as 4.5/5 stars and also would like to congratulate the author for this brilliant masterpiece and would wait for the next bestseller from him.

Review of Pluck Out The Heart

A novel that through its cover page promises to send chills down your spine. Horror is the outlining force of the book with emotions suspense, fear, discrepancy and love being traced. The following people who are a part of this book have contributed just the right thing.

1. Sagher Manchanda : He makes the novel a page turner. Right expressions, amazing literature, high creativity and imagination, topped with some suspense and mystery - he knows the recipe of a perfect story. His stories provide a new insight into the writing and human world. He amazes with his writings, leaving in him complete awe of him, and if you are an avid reader, he is just the right pick for you!

2. Nalini Srivastava : Her stories are borrowed from real life incidences , some of which mirror the reality of human life and relationships. The literal expressions are good, some stories will touch your heart. But the majority of her stories lack horror and rather focus more on human nature. That is the only drawback of her writing. Some stories do offer paranormal experiences but lack the real list.

3. Nikhil M Katkar : As a newbie in the writing industry , Nikhil impresses with choosing the right subjects and right content. Her stories depict versatility on new grounds. The portrayal of Indian beliefs and ethics also make his stories captivating.

4. Shail Raghuvanshi : Shail's stories are too based on common day activities and have a slight tinge of horror only as the end. The characters are strong but could have been stronger. She offers real life perspectives and evokes interest.

5 Neelam Saxena Chandra : Neelam's stories are more of revenge - seeking - souls rather than horror. Most of the endings are happy but surprising. Human ethics are the reckoned base of horror of all her narration. She captures your attention and makes you anticipate many more stories.

Over all this book is a one time read . However some stories can be read again and again. The book comprises not of only horror but many other genres which it will redefine.

About the Book
Pluck Out The Heart is something beyond an anthology; It is a unique venture by five authors. Based on the horror/dark genre, this book stands out to be a variation in the approach to scary tales. Just as it will manage to run a long nail down your freezing spine, Pluck Out The Heart is manicured with an intention to tell newly thought stories to the readers, page by page. The macabre wave of the revenant has been woven through the emotions in each story, as the characters in them are created to touch your heart and their darker part is sure to pluck it out! Another differentiating feature of this book is that the authors haven’t gone for the usually read and clichéd commercial plotlines. Each tale that is told in the further pages is a well-chiselled work of art by the respective writer. We chose this topic after analyzing that the excitement about horror tales among the readers/audience is declining, owing to the fact that the creators are consistently failing to give the readers something fresh.

Positive aspects !

The exploration of human aspects in a vivid manner is the finest trait of this book . It is written in such a manner that even a new reader would find it interesting . Adding to the glory of the book are the common-life aspects and practical situations which the author effortlessly narrates . It has a blend of various emotions in it which makes it relatable..
Negative aspects !
The book belonging to no glare is the highly noticeable fault ..it lacks fascination in the middle . The in-depth explanation of the tactics and terms of the corporate world may not engage everyone . At some places the book turns predictable.
My verdict..

A  coin has 2 sides . Similarly there are both negative and positive aspects of a thing. In nutshell this book can be read by anyone who belongs to the corporate world. It has a good start and ends regularly . It can be read while travelling or when you are pissed off. It kind of revives you and the conversations between the guruji and his shishyas provides you a new insight into life , some of the lines may change your thinking . All in all this book will enhance your way of looking at things and you will ( if ready ) come out as a new person ..

NEVER KISS YOUR BEST FRIEND

This novel is the sequel to the 2012 bestseller - JUST FRIENDS Keeping the legacy intact of laugh riots and heart tendering moments , this novel takes you on a ride of events that will linger in your mind , even after reading the novel . Quirky lines , promises of friendship , tales of love and the suprising climax will keep you hooked . the language is just right for an avid reader . The embellishing trait of this book is its unexpected but lovable events . Its starting will make you hysterical and the ending will leave you numb . The author perfectly leaves some knots open for another sequel to follow . Sumrit shahi takes friendship and love several notches higher and eventually redefines it . The weak storyline is the only negative trait of the entire novel. Thr ending could have been better with less suprises .

All in all , the book is a treat for reader's and fan's for sumrit shahi and will delight you from the alpha to the omega..
